Bio
I'm a native of the west coast and a proud graduate of both Lewis and Clark College (BFA, 2013) and Carnegie Mellon University (MFA, 2018), where I earned degrees in sound design for the theatre. I've presented original projects in Taipei, Taiwan and Prague, Czech Republic.
Directly following my time in at Carnegie Mellon, I moved to Florida, where I've been ever since.

From 2018 until 2022, I was the resident Sound Designer and audio visual supervisor for the Studio Theatre at Tierra Del Sol in The Villages, FL. From there, I moved to Orlando and served as the resident Sound Designer and AV Supervisor at Renaissance Theatre Company from 2022 to 2024.

My favorite independent projects include sound design for Qualia (2024, Found Object Creative and Renaissance Theatre Company), The Vast of Darkness (Orlando Fringe 2023, Whiskey Theatre Factory), and The Not (2023, Jeremy Seghers Presents and Timucua Arts Foundation).

One thing I love about sound design is world building. I have a particular love for science fiction and horror design, so it comes as a surprise to absolutely no one that my favorite projects have involved a combination of those two elements. For example, my favorite sound design for a spaceship is from the 1979 film Alien. There's something so satisfyingly tactile in how the ship, Nostromo, sounds like a computer from the era. It was as familiar to me as a 7/11 — I might not know my way around yet, but I know exactly how it feels to be there.

A funny little thing about me: I have a neurological variance called synesthesia which allows me to experience sound with both visual and tactile senses. This is caused by the brain's primary visual cortex and parietal lobe activating at the same time. I often talk about sound in terms of physical touch or action, and I love sharing this gift with others.

I also love sharing photos of my cats, Vinnie and Perci. If you want to collaborate on a project, just ask about the boys! I'll show you the full album.
Artist's Statement
As a designer who's been seemingly all over the place for projects, I have an intense appreciation for environments outside of where I was born and bred. The arts and the creation of memorable experiences is a long-held passion of mine, and I admire and respect the character, atmosphere, and sound of each specific city I've lived and worked in throughout my career. Sound design and engineering is a service long before it's an art. My work is in service to the story, the director's vision, and — very often — the performers. I pride myself on the care and attention to detail that I bring to projects that I have the privilege of working on.

Arguably, the hardest part of any design is balancing sound with other elements. Blending sound into the story is a skill I've come to be proud of, whether it's through using technical tools (like mixing controls) or designing effects that ebb and flow (or pierce at just the right time). Most of the time, it's not until we become distracted by sound that we're affected by it. While not everyone has the same vocabulary, everyone does have an opinion about what they like, what bothers them, or what excites them. My passion lies in gathering these opinions and arriving at a place where everyone is satisfied with the result.
In order make the above goal happen, clear communication is a key element in my work. I believe that clients deserve to know what I'm working on, what I need, when I'll give them updates, and when I'll deliver project elements to them. Discourse pushes projects forward. Questions invite innovation. Respect establishes trust. And when these elements combine, confidence in any project blooms.

At the most basic level, what I do is make sound effects and hang speakers. But to me, the possibilities of sound are endless. Sound communicates to an audience the weight and texture of a world they cannot touch. It can give context, demand attention, or it can incite emotions. And it's my job to ensure that it can do all three.
